NEW BOOKS DUE OUT SHORTLY BY DONALD DALLAS:

BANG GO THE SIXTIES

Bang Go The Sixtiesa new book by Donald Dallas due out next year (2012).

Bang Go The Sixties is a very different book for Donald Dallas.

It covers the period between 1960 and 1970 and is a humorous tale of the author’s teenage years from crew cut to hippy hair. Set within the Swinging Sixties to a background of pop music and world events, it tells the story of the friendship of two teenage boys from their early experimentation in creating loud bangs, through to the Summer of Love in 1967 and beyond.

The story is based around a small village in Fife, Scotland in which a traditional pre-war rural world of shooting, birds egg nesting and building bogeys had grafted on to it, electric pop, mini skirts, long hair and the rebelliousness of 1960’s culture.

Beginning with home made guns built in 1962 to the sound of The Beatles, Donald progressed to a Boss in 1968 to the wail of Jimmy Hendrix.

Further new books in progress include PURDEY, GUN AND RIFLE MAKERS, THE DEFINITIVE HISTORY, 2ND EDITION, considerably revised and updated to include much new material, due out in 2014 to coincide with Purdey’s 200th anniversary. A new book on the history of JOHN DICKSON & SON is also in progress.
